On September 27th, 2015 the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) were officially adopted by 193 countries at the Sustainable Development Summit in New York. It was a universal call-to-action by all countries to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The 17 SDG’s are integrated, which means that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social need including education, health, equality and job opportunities while tackling climate change and working to preserve our ocean and forests.

The 17 SDG’s are divided into three main pillars, which together define “sustainability”;

  • SOCIAL

  • ENVIRONMENTAL

  • ECONOMICAL
